Phonological Awareness

  • Recognize when words are the same, such as, "man, man" or different, such as "big, pig"

  • Identify and make oral rhymes

  • Clap the number of syllables in a word

  • Recognize words with the same initial sounds such as "monkey" and "mop"

  • Recognize words with the same ending sounds, such as, "bus" and "dress"

  • Blend sounds into words, /a/ /t/ is at, /b/ /i/ /g/ is big

  • Segment the sounds in words, the sounds in she are /sh/ /e/

The clinic developed a parent resource series called, Raising Readers, which has short, yet informative and helpful tools for parents.

"James tell me 5 words that start with the /ch/ sound"
